Do You Need a Visa?

The process of coming to the USA can be a frightening experience. America is a completely different place from many other countries and the process to get here is different as well. Having a visa allows you the ability to legally enter the country for a set amount of time. The time limit is determined by the type of visa one possesses. There are visas for students, business men and women, and families. There are specific laws governing the visas and they should be learned about far in advance of the trip to the USA. The visa itself must be applied for far in advance to allow room for delays and complications that are likely to arise. Immigration laws are the determining factor of the type of visa that will be given.

The Process of Obtaining a Visa

Visas are valuable possessions and exciting tickets to an unfamiliar world. They are also hard to earn and the application process can be very precise and difficult. One small mistake can result in a denial of a visa. Once approved, they are completely worth every effort taken. The visa will be a sticker placed inside of your passport and will allow you to enter and leave the U.S. port of entry. It does not, however, guarantee entrance into America. You must first have an interview with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection. An immigration officer will ask you a few necessary questions and can either accept or reject your request to enter the U.S.

What You Need to Know

An important aspect of the process to keep in mind is to apply in advance. This is very important and can prove to be the determining factor of whether or not you will be granted permission into the states. It is also profitable to make sure that your visa status is valid if you have used the visa multiple times. Make sure everything is properly set in place to allow you the best chance of being accepted. If you are in need of assistance or advice on any of these steps, contact our firm at once.
