Green Cards in the USA

Understanding Green Cards

A green card is more ceremoniously known as a United States Permanent Resident Card. The fear of deportation and removal from the United States is no longer a constant fear for those obtain a green card. A green card does not automatically make the individual a citizen of the United States, but this can be obtained through an adjustment of status. This card gives the holder the ability to live and work in the United States without fear of harassment. Another provision that a green card allows for is travel outside of the United States for limited periods of time.

Qualifications for Green Card Status

A green card does give one certain rights as a legal permanent resident in the United States. If you wish to become a first-time green card holder or desire to renew your residency, there are specific qualifications that must first be met. The person who is sponsoring you must meet specific requirements as well. He/she must himself have a green card or be a citizen. This person must also be a relative and provide the necessary documents necessary to support you and your family.

At Musa Obregon & Associates, we understand aspects of immigration law that many other lawyers do not. We have experience helping individuals obtain green cards and are confident in our ability to do so. After one has obtained a green card, they are then eligible to support other family members in their struggle to receive this privilege. This is not an easy card to obtain. The process can be rushed in circumstances of asylum, employment, or family matters. Our firm can help in many different ways. We can provide the advice and counsel as a green card holder goes through the process and then seeks citizenship. This is a long procedure and can benefit by the involvement of an immigration lawyer from our firm.
